John James Audubon
John James Audubon - an American ornithologist, naturalist, and painter. Known for for his studies of American birds and for illustrations that showed the birds in their natural habitats. Audubon illustrated his knowledge about birds in a more realistic manner than most artists did then. Audubon had his own methods for drawing birds. His paintings of birds are true-to-life in their natural habitat. He often showed them as if caught in motion, especially feeding or hunting. He worked primarily with watercolor and sometimes used gouache.
