Živilė Rudzikaitė-Matuzonienė
"Painting is a constant rebirth for me"
If I had to describe Živilė Rudzikaitė - Matuzonienė's work in one word, it would be
FRONTIER. Calmness, not in the sense when everything is quiet, but calmness as certainty, as complete confidence in one's own inner voice, coming from a strong relationship with oneself and the surrounding environment. This is evidenced by the bold, solid splashes of colour, the clear, strong outlines of the drawing and the very sparing, restrained use of detail. There is only one other, but each one is important and significant.
The artist herself says that she does not want to limit herself to one style or theme. Each cycle of her work - is like a rebirth, looking for new angles, new ways to express inner experiences. Nevertheless, you will quickly notice that the most frequent themes of her work are nature, its natural transformations and man's relationship with it. The artist herself lives surrounded by nature, so her inspiration comes from far and wide to look for inspiration. In the constant cycle of nature, she discovers the most varied moods and experiences.
The strength of her paintings lies in their versatility. They capture states of mind, transformations without change through the ages and are recognisable to everyone. The landscapes of nature are transformed here into landscapes of the soul, under where the gaze can wander without tiring and constantly seeking new interpretations.
In addition to painting, the artist has devoted a long time to her studies. She has a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy VU, and a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts.
